As a Battery Reliability Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability, safety, and performance of battery systems and packs. You will be responsible for conducting comprehensive reliability assessments, developing testing protocols, and analyzing data. Your expertise will contribute to the development of cutting-edge battery technologies, enabling advancements in various industries, including automotive, energy storage, and consumer electronics.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND AUTHORITIES
- Reliability Testing: Design and execute reliability testing programs to evaluate battery performance under various operating conditions, including temperature extremes, vibration, humidity, and mechanical stress.
- Data Analysis: Analyze test data, field data, and failure reports to identify trends, failure modes, and potential reliability issues. Utilize statistical tools to draw meaningful conclusions and make data-driven recommendations.
- Failure Analysis: Conduct root cause analysis of battery failures and collaborate with crossfunctional teams to implement corrective actions and prevent recurrence.
- Reliability Prediction: Utilize reliability prediction techniques and models to estimate the expected performance and lifespan of battery systems, considering factors such as environmental conditions and usage profiles.
- Risk Assessment: Identify potential risks related to battery reliability and work proactively to mitigate those risks through design improvements and quality control measures.
- Test Protocol Development: Develop standardized test protocols and procedures to ensure consistency and repeatability of reliability testing across different battery product lines.
- Quality Assurance: Collaborate with Quality Assurance teams to establish and maintain quality standards for battery manufacturing, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and safety standards.
- Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance battery reliability, performance, and safety through research, testing, and engineering advancements.
- Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including Research & Development, Engineering, Operations, and Product Management, to support product development and resolve reliability issues
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
Experience:
- Proven experience in battery technology, battery systems, or energy storage systems, with a focus on reliability engineering.
- Familiarity with industry standards and regulations related to battery safety and reliability.
- Proficiency in data analysis tools and statistical methods for reliability assessment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to conduct thorough root-cause analyses.
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of accelerated life testing and other reliability testing methods.
Functional Skills:
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to producing accurate and reliable results.
Other Abilities:
- Experience with reliability prediction software is a plus.
- Familiarity with lithium-ion batteries or other advanced battery chemistries is highly desirable.
