This role supports sourcing team and Vietnam handtool factory for supplier scouting and development, driving cost reduction, ensuring supplier quality and delivery, managing supplier relationships, and leading the purchasing team to well served mass production and new projects.
The position requires trilingual communication skills (English, Chinese, and Vietnamese) and deep understanding of Vietnam metal parts with surface treatment manufacturing capabilities, commercial practices, and supply chain dynamics.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND AUTHORITIES
Strategic Sourcing & Regional Focus
Identify and develop competitive Vietnam suppliers for molding, metal parts such as stamping, machining, casting, AL extrusions and surface treatment (e.g. powder coating, plating, anodizing, painting)
Support supply chain localization and diversification initiatives to reduce cost and supply risk
Coordinate supplier transitions and localization projects from China to Vietnam, ensuring quality stability, cost targets, and delivery readiness
Set the supplier strategy for each category yearly. Cost Management & Negotiation
Lead and drive cost reduction year over year programs through supplier negotiation, cost analysis, and value engineering
Analyze supplier cost structures, especially for metal materials, processing, and surface treatment costs.
Monitor material cost trends(resin, steel, aluminum, plating materials etc) and supply/demand situations in Vietnam and the region. Purchasing Operations & Compliance
Implement and maintain purchasing policies, procedures, and internal controls.
Ensure compliance with MRP, ERP, and ISO purchasing requirements.
Plan purchasing activities to support production schedules, inventory targets, and material availability.
Ensure compliance with relevant Vietnam and regional commercial terms, contracts, and basic customs concepts (inbound / outbound supply chain). Team Leadership & Cross-functional Collaboration
Lead, coach, and develop local Vietnam purchasing team members.
Set annual KPI goals and review performance to achieve cost, quality, and delivery targets.
Work closely with Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Finance, and Supply Chain teams to support NPD and mass production projects.
Support colleagues and other departments as required.
Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Job Requirement
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Business, or related discipline
Experience:
10 years of working experience in purchasing and 3 years of people managing experience
Knowledge:
Knowledge and working experience in production methods for metals, plastics and assembly
Functional Skills:
Handtool engineering background/knowledge is added advantage Fluent in English & Mandarin & Vietnamese
Other Abilities:
Willing to travel frequently
